ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain evacuated the bad habit chancellor of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Dr Zafar Iqbal, from his post on Sunday.
The choice was taken after a meeting of the college's senate hung on Saturday prescribed the evacuation in view of his charged contribution in defilement, preference, moral turpitude and abuse of power.
"The president has evacuated the VC of the college," a senior authority of the administration told this reporter on Sunday. "It has been chosen that his case will be sent to the National Accountability Bureau and the Federal Investigation Agency."
He included that the administration was considering three hopefuls prescribed by the varsity's senate to fill the empty post. As indicated by a source at the college, the VC was selected on Feb 1, 2013 by the Pakistan People's Party government for a five-year term. He figured out how to spare his employment twice in the past by getting stay orders from the Sindh High Court against choices taken by the college's senate.
As indicated by the varsity's principles, the senate must be summoned twice every year. Yet, Dr Iqbal did not do as such for a long time. President Hussain paid heed to the matter and guided the bad habit chancellor to assemble a senate conference yet the source blamed the VC for disregarding the order.
In the mean time a source in the National Accountability Bureau said that defilement cases at Urdu college were at that point being researched. At the point when reached, Dr Iqbal said the senate meeting hung on August 8 was unlawful in light of the fact that it had not been called by him.
He guaranteed that his case was at that point in the Supreme Court and, along these lines the president couldn't evacuate him. "Indeed, even the senate of the college which prescribed my evacuation is unlawful as it was framed illicitly by the president," he said.
